Terms & Conditions
1) Promoter
Wild Isle Adventures Ltd (“Promoter”), 2 Timsgarry, Isle of Lewis, HS2 9JD, Scotland. Company no. SC861358. Contact: hello@wildisleyurts.co.uk.
2) The Promotion
A UK skill-based prize draw to win multi-year access to a private yurt stay on the Isle of Lewis (“Prize”). Two draws run in parallel:
- Main Prize Draw (paid or free entry)
- Referrers’ Bonus Draw (entries earned via valid referrals)
The Prize is guaranteed and not contingent on the number of entries.
3) Key dates
Opens 00:00, 1 January 2026.
Closes 23:59, 28 February 2027, or earlier if the Promoter announces an early close on the website (e.g. once the entry/operational cap is reached).
Draw date: no later than 28 February 2027.
If dates change due to events outside our control, we’ll post updates on the website. The Prize (or Alternative Award per clause 12) will still be awarded.
4) Eligibility
Open to UK residents aged 18+ (excludes Channel Islands and Isle of Man).
One individual per account. We may void entries created to evade limits (e.g. multiple accounts controlling the same entries or referral links) or that use agents/third parties, bulk/automated methods, disposable emails, self-referrals, or similar abuse.
The Promoter may require proof of age/identity/UK residency and may disqualify non-compliant entries.
5) How to enter — Main Prize Draw
No purchase necessary. Paid and free (postal) entries are treated identically and use the same skill question.
Paid (online)
- Visit wildisleyurts.co.uk and select the “Hebridean Basecamp Prize Draw Entry”.
- Answer the skill question correctly at checkout.
- Complete purchase. A unique entry number will be issued.
Limit: up to 100 entries per person total (combined paid + free).
Cooling-off: You can cancel within 14 days of purchase for a full refund; refunded entries are invalid.
Free (postal — no purchase necessary)
Hand-write and post a postcard to: Free Entry, Wild Isle Adventures Ltd, 2 Timsgarry, Isle of Lewis, HS2 9JD, stating: full name, UK address, email, phone, the competition name (“Hebridean Basecamp Prize Draw”), and your answer to the current skill question as published on our website.
- One free entry per stamped envelope.
- Must be received by 21 February 2027 (not just postmarked).
- Illegible, bulk, metered, or machine-franked mail will not be entered.
- Free entries are logged and treated identically to paid entries.
If the skill question changes during the Promotion, the website will state the current question and the validity period; only entries with the correct answer to the question applicable at the time of receipt will be entered.
6) Entry cap & price
Ticket price: £3.
Entry cap: up to 36,000 entries total for the Main Prize Draw.
The Promoter may close early once the cap (or an operational cap) is reached; all valid entries received by close are included.
7) Referrers’ Bonus Draw (separate draw)
Share your personal referral link (shown in the on-site referral panel). When a referred friend completes a qualifying Main Prize Draw entry (paid entry not refunded within the 14-day cooling-off period, or a validated free postal entry), the referrer earns one Bonus Draw entry.
Bonus entries:
• are not entries into the Main Prize Draw;
• have no cash value;
• may be voided for fraud/error or if the underlying entry is cancelled/invalid;
• must not arise from self-referrals, same-household referrals intended to evade limits, clusters of accounts sharing devices/IPs, or other manipulative patterns.
8) Prizes
Main Prize Draw — 2 winners (“Main Winners”)
Each Main Winner receives 25 nights per year for 5 consecutive years (total 125 nights) at our dune-side Hebridean yurt basecamp on the Isle of Lewis. Accommodation only (travel, food, activities and other costs not included).
Referrers’ Bonus Draw — 1 winner (“Bonus Winner”)
Receives the same 5-year placement (25 nights/year; 125 nights total). Drawn at the same time as the Main Prize Draw.
Prize usage rules (all winners)
- No rollover: nights must be used within each prize year.
- Gifting within the year allowed (family/friends) by prior notice; no commercial resale.
- Summer weeks: each January, a simple allocation draw sets the order in which Winners/Founders choose one peak-summer 7-night block.
- Rest of year: flexible booking, subject to availability and minimum stays (typically 3 nights off-peak).
- Capacity: sleeps up to 4 (double + trundles). Sensible tent pitching may be permitted on request.
- House rules apply; a refundable security deposit may be requested.
- Transfers: placements are not transferable in full; only individual nights may be gifted.
- Blackouts: short maintenance/closure windows may apply (minimised and communicated).
9) Founders (not part of the Promotion)
Separately, a limited number of Founder places may be offered for direct purchase (e.g., £5,000 for 25 nights/year for 5 years). Founders’ terms are on the Founders page and are outside these T&Cs.
10) Winner selection, notification & verification
Winners will be selected at random from eligible entries using a verifiable computer-based random process, under independent witness/adjudicator oversight. The draw will be filmed or independently witnessed and a draw record (including timestamp and method) retained.
Winners will be notified by email (and/or phone) within 7 days. If a winner cannot be contacted or fails verification within 14 days, the prize may be awarded to a reserve drawn at the same time.
11) Publicity & winners’ list
We may publish winners’ first name and county and share images with consent.
To request winners’ details, email hello@wildisleyurts.co.uk within 30 days of the draw. You may object to or limit publicity; see our Privacy Policy.
12) Alternative Award (last resort)
The Prize is guaranteed. Only if delivery becomes impossible or unlawful due to events outside our reasonable control (e.g., destruction of the site, long-term incapacity, legal/planning prohibition) will an Alternative Award be made: £1,500 to each prize winner (Main and Bonus). Where made, we will also refund that winner’s own ticket spend for this Promotion (up to the per-person entry limit).
Undersubscription or commercial decisions are not grounds for substitution.
13) Refunds & cancellations
Paid entries: 14-day cooling-off applies. After 14 days, entries are final and non-refundable. Refunded/cancelled entries are invalid and any linked Bonus entry may be voided.
Postal entries cannot be returned.
14) Fair play & disqualification
We may refuse, void or disqualify entries/bonus entries that are late, incomplete, incorrect, duplicated, in bad faith, in breach of these T&Cs, or that manipulate the referral system (including self-referrals, same-household/device/IP patterns, disposable emails, bots). Our decision is final acting reasonably.
15) Liability
As permitted by law, we’re not responsible for entries/communications lost, delayed, misdirected, damaged or unsuccessful due to network, technical or postal issues. Nothing limits liability for death/personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
16) Data protection
Personal data is processed to administer the Promotion and, if you consent, for marketing by the Promoter. See our Privacy Policy (link on site) for lawful bases, retention, and your rights. Winners’ details may be shared with third parties only as required by law or to fulfil the Prize.
17) Changes to these Terms
We may update these T&Cs to correct errors or reflect changes in law/circumstances beyond our control. Any material change will be posted on the website. No change will materially reduce your chances of winning or your prize entitlement.
18) Law & jurisdiction
These T&Cs and the Promotion are governed by Scottish law. The Scottish courts have exclusive jurisdiction. If you have a complaint, contact us first at hello@wildisleyurts.co.uk and we’ll try to resolve it.
19) House rules & safety
Stays are offered on a personal licence to occupy (not a tenancy). All guests must follow House Rules (safety, biosecurity, neighbourly conduct):
- Quiet hours 22:00–07:00; no parties/events; no amplified music outdoors.
- Max occupancy 4 inside the yurt unless agreed in writing.
- No smoking/vaping indoors.
- Fires only in the fire pit; follow local advisories.
- Aviary/solar area is staff-only (safety & biosecurity).
- Respect livestock, fences, wildlife; no feeding animals.
- Dispose of waste correctly; follow compost-loo guidance.
- No illegal drugs, weapons, fireworks or hazardous activity. Drones may only be used if agreed in writing in advance.
- Keep vehicles to designated areas; follow parking instructions.
- Children must be supervised at all times.
We may update House Rules for safety/regulatory reasons; the current version applies at the time of stay and is sent with booking confirmation.
20) Identification & named lead guest
For each stay, a named lead guest (18+) must be present, provide photo ID on request, and is responsible for the group. We may decline access if ID cannot be provided, details don’t match, or there are reasonable safety concerns at check-in (e.g., aggression, intoxication, refusal of House Rules).
21) Security deposit & damages
We may request a refundable security deposit prior to arrival. You authorise us to recover reasonable costs for damage, extra cleaning, missing items or rule breaches attributable to your party (itemised evidence available on request).
22) Right to refuse service / terminate for cause
We may refuse, cancel or terminate a stay for cause where there is serious/persistent breach of these T&Cs/House Rules, or conduct that reasonably threatens safety, property, livestock, wildlife, staff, neighbours or public order (including harassment/abuse). We act proportionately:
- For most issues: one clear warning and opportunity to remedy.
- For serious misconduct (e.g., violence, criminality, dangerous fires, entering restricted areas, animal-welfare violations): immediate termination and removal from site; Police/authorities may be involved.
Important: decisions are behaviour-based only. We will not refuse/terminate on the basis of any protected characteristic (Equality Act 2010). An appeal may be sent to hello@wildisleyurts.co.uk.
23) Consequences of breach (Winners vs Founders)
Prize winners: if a stay is terminated for serious breach, remaining nights in that prize year may be forfeited. For repeated/egregious misconduct, we may bar future prize years with written reasons. No cash alternative is due where forfeiture results from the winner’s breach.
Founders (paid places): if a stay is terminated for serious breach, nights in that period may be forfeited. For repeated/egregious misconduct, we may terminate the Founder agreement for cause; unused future years may be cancelled without refund where termination is due to your breach.
Where we cancel without fault on your part (e.g., our operational error), we will rebook or refund pro-rata unused nights for that period (Founders) or offer rebooking (Winners), at your choice.
24) Gifting & responsibility
You may gift nights within each prize year (no resale). The lead Winner/Founder remains responsible for ensuring gifted guests have booking details, accept House Rules and provide ID if asked. Misconduct by gifted guests counts as misconduct by the lead guest.
25) Do-not-rent policy (safety & fraud)
We may maintain a proportionate do-not-rent list based on documented safety incidents, fraud/chargeback abuse or serious rule breaches. Data is held under legitimate interests for the minimum necessary period; see our Privacy Policy.
